Enjoy this authentic Turkish coffee recipe with your guests. It is traditionally prepared in an ibrik, a tiny heated coffee pot.
Ingredients
1 cup water
1 tablespoon ground coffee
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
Sugar (if desired)
Preparation
Bring the ibrik with water and sugar (optional) to a boil. If you don’t have an ibrik, it’ll work with a small saucepan.
Remove from heat, then add cardamom and coffee.
Return to heat the saucepan, and allow it to boil. Remove from heat when foaming with the coffee.
Return to heat again, allowing foaming and removing from the heat.
Pour into cups, and allow the grounds to settle to the bottom of the cups for a few minutes.
Tips
Always serve Turkish coffee with foam on top.
After pouring into cups, do not stir; the foam will collapse.
Start always with the cold water.
